Every Day Is The Lord's Day

We sang this song in church today. We got to the line "You are my everything", and I had to stop singing. I thought, do I really live like God is my everything? I say He is. I want Him to be, but my life doesn't always show that He is. Sometimes I am my everything. I forget to go to God with my decisions, I am upset if I am inconvenienced, I look out for my comfort, I want situations to turn out how I think they should. (I deceive myself with this last one. I say I am only trying to make a situation turn out God's way. I need to stop trying to control and let God work it out His way.) The list goes on and on. God should be my absolute everything, but sadly I don't let Him be.

I want to have some memory verses to dwell on when I foolishly glorify myself instead of trusting God; verses that bring my heart and mind back to truth and not deception.

 *       "But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand." (Isaiah 64:8)

 *      "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."(Proverbs 3:5-6)

 *     " LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart."(Psalm 15:1-2)

 *      "The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. (Psalm 24:1-5)
