I am so excited. I am knitting my first pair of socks. I found a great book in the library with interesting history of hand knitted footwear, and many different sock patterns. It is called FOLK SOCKS by Nancy Bush. Her book is almost like having someone beside me showing me how to do each step. While following a sock pattern I can look up a picture of each stitch it calls for, and there is a section explaining each step in detail. I agree with the author of the book, "When you've knit the needed number of heel-flap rows, the fun really begins--it's time to turn the heel!" It is a lot of fun! I love to create needed items and I am content when my hands are occupied on a worthwhile endeavor.
Good for you! I've knit a lot of sweathers, but I've never done a sock...just because of that heel! LOL

Annie,
DeleteI wanted to knit socks because everyone dreads "turning the heel". I found that it really isn't as hard as we are made to think. I started knitting a sweater once. I never finished it. The yarn became lots of mittens. I'm sure if you can knit sweaters, you can knit socks.
I enjoy reading posts on your blog.

Yes! I do feel like God has been so great to me. I'm very happy with my life. The party was so cute and fun, we really need to all get together more often. We miss you guys.
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog:). And the socks are coming along great! Are they finished yet?!
Natali,
DeleteYes, we need to get together more often. Thanks for your encouragement about knitting these socks. It means a lot to me. They are not finished yet, but I am about to turn the heel on the second one.
